Who Are Disney’s New Flynn Rider and Rapunzel?

Disney has officially revealed the stars of its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Tangled, casting Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Teagan Croft as Rapunzel. Announced on January 7, the news immediately sparked excitement among fans of the 2010 animated classic, originally voiced by Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore.

Manheim, best known for his role as Zed in Disney’s Zombies franchise, shared his enthusiasm on social media, commenting, “I have seen the light,” before promising fans he would “do him justice.” The 24-year-old actor later posted a side-by-side image of himself and the animated Flynn Rider, calling the moment something he was “too grateful to put into words.”

Croft, 21, who rose to prominence as Raven on DC’s Titans, responded with humor, joking about her newcomer status in Hollywood by commenting, “OMGGG WHO ARE THEYYYY.” Despite the lighthearted tone, her casting marks a major milestone in her career, positioning her as Disney’s next live-action princess.

Who Are the New Stars of Tangled?

Manheim comes from a showbiz background as the son of actress Camryn Manheim. He made his TV debut alongside his mother on Ghost Whisperer and later competed on Dancing With the Stars, finishing as runner-up. In recent years, he’s expanded into musical theater and film, showcasing his singing skills in Journey to Bethlehem and the off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors.

Croft, an Australian actress, began acting at a young age, appearing in the sci-fi film The Osiris Child and the long-running soap Home and Away. Beyond Titans, she earned praise for her portrayal of real-life sailor Jessica Watson in Netflix’s True Spirit, further cementing her versatility.

What We Know About the Live-Action Tangled

The live-action remake will be directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) with a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder). While the original film’s iconic music was created by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, it remains unclear whether they will return to write new songs for this version.

Casting for other major roles, including the villain Mother Gothel, has not yet been announced. Rumors previously linked Scarlett Johansson to the role, though Disney has made no confirmation. Mandy Moore, who voiced Rapunzel in the original, has jokingly expressed interest in appearing—perhaps even as Rapunzel’s mother.

Release Date Still Under Wraps

As of now, Disney has not confirmed a release date for the live-action Tangled. Still, with casting now locked in and a high-profile creative team attached, production momentum appears to be building.

With Manheim and Croft leading the way, Disney’s reimagining of Tangled is shaping up to be one of the studio’s most closely watched live-action projects yet—one that aims to recapture the magic of floating lanterns for a new generation.
