Country music icon Dolly Parton is receiving an outpouring of support after her sister, Freida Parton, publicly asked fans around the world to pray for her recovery. The plea came just a week after Dolly announced that she would postpone six scheduled performances at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas due to medical procedures.
Freida shared an emotional message on Facebook Tuesday, revealing her deep concern for her sister’s health.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I’m asking all who love her to be prayer warriors with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and I know she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Dolly Parton’s representatives for comment.
The 79-year-old singer-songwriter behind timeless hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5” announced on September 28 that she would postpone her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency, originally set for late 2025.
“I want fans to hear it directly from me,” Parton wrote on social media. “I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me I need a few procedures. I won’t be able to rehearse and put on the show that you deserve to see.”
In her trademark humor, Parton added, “It must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up—though not the usual trip to the plastic surgeon!” She assured fans that while she needs time to recover, she isn’t slowing down permanently.
“God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. He’s just telling me to slow down for now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
The rescheduled shows are now set for September 2026.
Parton also missed a recent appearance at Dollywood, her Tennessee theme park, due to a kidney stone that caused an infection. Speaking to fans via video, she said her doctor advised her not to travel, explaining, “I was looking so forward to being there, but I’m with you in spirit.”
This year has been particularly difficult for the country legend, who lost her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Thomas Dean, in March. Despite the hardships, Parton continues to express gratitude to her fans and faith in her recovery.
As Freida Parton’s heartfelt plea spreads across social media, fans worldwide are uniting in prayer for one of music’s most beloved voices—hoping that Dolly’s unmistakable light will shine on for years to come.
