Pokémon Teams Up With LEGO for Its 30th Anniversary

Pokémon has officially kicked off its 30th anniversary celebrations with a major announcement: a new collaboration with LEGO set to launch in 2026. While the reveal focuses on collectible sets rather than video games, it has already reignited fan speculation—especially around a possible return to the iconic Kanto region.

The collaboration introduces three LEGO sets inspired by Pokémon from the original generation. Collectors will be able to build a Pikachu & Poké Ball set priced at $199.99, a premium Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise bundle at $649.99, and a more accessible Eevee set for $59.99. Every featured Pokémon comes from the original 150, making the lineup a clear nod to Pokémon’s roots.

This focus on Kanto hasn’t gone unnoticed. Fans quickly drew comparisons to Nintendo’s recent LEGO collaborations, particularly the Zelda set based on Ocarina of Time, which fueled remake rumors for that classic title. With Pokémon following a similar pattern, many are wondering whether these LEGO sets are more than just anniversary merchandise.

However, a Kanto remake in 2026 may be unlikely. Pokémon revisited the region relatively recently with Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, released less than a decade ago. Traditionally, the franchise spaces out remakes, and from a chronological standpoint, Black and White would be next in line. The last major remake—Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl—launched in 2022, suggesting Pokémon may not be ready to return to Kanto just yet.

Still, even without a confirmed remake, the LEGO collaboration is a powerful celebration of Pokémon’s legacy. By spotlighting its most recognizable characters, Pokémon is tapping into nostalgia while offering fans a new way to engage with the franchise. Whether this is simply a tribute to the past or a subtle hint at future plans, one thing is clear: Pokémon’s 30th anniversary is off to a strong and exciting start.
