Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has publicly addressed his strained relationship with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, saying he has no desire to reconcile after years of what he describes as emotional control and interference in his marriage.
In a lengthy Instagram statement shared with his more than 16 million followers, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to undermine his relationship with his wife, actress and heiress Nicola Peltz, since before their 2022 wedding. He said this was the first time he felt compelled to speak out and “stand up for myself.”
Brooklyn claimed his parents repeatedly shaped public narratives about the family while dismissing his side of the story. He alleged that tensions escalated during wedding preparations, including an incident where Victoria Beckham reportedly canceled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress at the last moment, forcing her to find an alternative. Nicola ultimately wore a Valentino haute couture gown.
He also described moments from the wedding day that he says deepened the rift, including accusations that his mother insulted him over seating arrangements and interrupted his planned first dance with his wife. According to Brooklyn, these moments were part of a broader pattern of what he described as consistent disrespect toward Nicola.
The conflict, he said, continued after the wedding. Brooklyn claimed that attempts to reconnect with his father around David Beckham’s milestone birthday were unsuccessful, alleging that private time was refused unless it took place at a large public celebration. He also said that requests to meet later were declined entirely, including when his family traveled to Los Angeles.
In his statement, Brooklyn rejected claims that Nicola controls him, saying the opposite is true. He wrote that stepping away from his family has significantly reduced the anxiety he experienced growing up and allowed him to feel independent for the first time.
David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly responded to the allegations. CNN reported it had reached out to representatives for comment.
The post brings years of tabloid speculation about a Beckham family rift into the open, marking a rare and deeply personal public statement from the couple’s eldest son and signaling that reconciliation may not be imminent.
