Adani Group commissions India’s largest tracker solar plant

solar-trackerInfrastructure company Adani Enterprises Ltd said it commissioned India’s largest tracker-based solar power plant at Bhatinda in Punjab.

The 100 megawatt plant is also the largest solar project in Punjab.

Tracker plants are those with motorized panels that keep tracking the sun as it moves across the sky. Compared to fixed panels, tracking panels generate 30-35% more energy.

This plant will be India’s biggest horizontal single axis tracker plant at a single location.

The annual energy yield is expected to be approximately 88,000 Mwh.

Adani said the Bhatinda project was completed with an investment of around Rs 640 crore.

The entire 100 MW solar plant project was commissioned almost six months ahead of
schedule, it added.

The technology used for setting up this plant includes poly crystalline silicon PV modules and horizontal single- axis tracker.

The plant spreads over approximately 641 acres of land with the evacuation of 132 kV Balluana substation through double circuit 132 KV transmission line.

Apart from the 100 MW solar power plant in Bhatinda, the company also has a 40 MW solar plant at Bitta, Gujarat and has also recently unveiled a 648 MW solar power project at Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu.

The company has also signed a JV with the Rajasthan government to develop the country’s largest solar park in the state with 10,000 MW capacity.

Adani Enterprises Ltd is part of the Adani Group, one of India’s leading business houses with revenue of over S12 billion.

Founded in 1988, Adani is a global integrated infrastructure player with businesses resources, logistics, energy and agro.

Adani owns and operates eight posts and terminals in India. These are at Mundra, Dahej, Kandla and Hazira in Gujarat, Dhamra in Orissa, Mormugao in Goa, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Katupalli in Chennai, Mundra Port.
