Eon Electric wins Rs 51 cr LED streetlight contract

eonEon Electric Limited (EEL) said it won a Rs 51 crore for Streetlights in Aligarh, UP and Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

60,000 LED streetlights will be installed at Jodhpur and 13,000 at Aligarh.

The street lights are installed with Centrally Controlled System, which continuously monitors and reports satisfactory performance and energy conservation of these LED Streetlights, Eon said.

LED lights generate more light per watt that compact fluorescent lights. LED lights produce about 80-90 lumen per watt, while CFL lamps produce about 60-65 lumen.

LED Streetlights ensure glare-free light for ease, comfort and safety on the road, while walking or driving. By preventing dark patches in between Streetlights, they safeguard pedestrians. This well-spread road light is especially important for the safety of children, women and elderly pedestrians, who may not be so well versed with street safety norms.

The company won in an open bidding process of the Government-sponsored Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) and for being associated with the Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan Governments to transform the region’s lighting and energy savings scenario.

“With the Government of India’s recent initiatives to conserve energy, through replacement of conventional Lights by LED Lights, the Industry specialists have projected, that the demand for LED Streetlights in India to be worth Rs.39,500 cr by 2020,” said V.P. Mahendru, Chairman of Eon Electric Limited.

“EON has expanded its portfolio from conventional / CFL Lights to a range of LED Bulbs and LED streetlights, to support the National objective of 24×7 power supply for all through indigenous manufacturing,” he added.

Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has played an important role in establishing high standards of technical specifications, comparable to the best in the world.

This has encouraged development of many new manufacturers of LED Lights in India.

Many existing manufacturers of Lighting products have also upgraded their manufacturing facilities to match higher standards as per EESL’s expanding demand.

“We are also exporting our LED Lights to Dubai and plan extending our export market to African and other Middle East and South-East Asian countries. All our products are extensively tested as per BIS/Government guidelines and national standards,” said Mahendru.

Established in 1958, the Noida-headquartered company manufactures a wide range of energy-efficient electrical products and today has grown into a multi-product organisation. Its manufacturing plants at Haridwar and Noida produce world-class Fans, Wires & Cables, Lighting & Luminaries, Lithium Ion Batteries and other electrical items. Presently, the Company has 20 regional offices and over 200 Sales / Marketing Executives and Engineers to support over 500 Dealers / Distributors across India. EON products are available in all major markets of India and enjoy National/International Certifications, of BIS and ISO-9001. The Company’s vision is to be amongst the top five domestic leaders by FY 2020 in the LED Lighting segment.
