Tata Power’s generation capacity up 9%, backed by wind farms

Tata PowerTata Power’s total generation capacity increased 9% to 9,432 MW in the April-June quarter compared with the same quarter last year, boosted by a fresh addition of 273 MW wind power.

The growth in wind power generation was due to commissioning of 44 MW Lahori wind farm project in Madhya Pradesh and Cennergi, its 50:50 African joint venture, in achieving commercial operations of both its 134 MW Amakhala Emoyeni and 95 MW Tsitsikamma Wind Farms, added the company.

The company has a clean energy space with a gross installed capacity of 1996 MW.

Total consolidated generation stood at 11,122 MUs. It did not give the comparable figure for last year.

Tata Power generates power from various fuel sources such as thermal (coal, gas and oil), hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar) and waste heat recovery thereby reinforcing its position as one of the largest integrated power company in India.

“Tata Power has and will continue to be a part of India’s growth story. We have, in this quarter, spread our footprint across the country, also commissioned plants in international geographies with a special focus on the renewables. We are confident that in the next few years we will have greater contribution”, said, Anil Sardana, Managing Director.
