Infosys said it has hired 5,874 American workers in the last 16 months.
Arizona center will focus on autonomous technologies, Internet of Things (IOT), full-stack engineering, data science and cyber security. The staff would include both fresh graduates as well as experienced ‘local’ professionals, it said.
Infosys had committed in May last year to hiring 10,000 American workers in the context of rising pressure felt by Indian companies to hire more locals, after Donald Trump came to power.
Ravi Kumar, President of Infosys said the new hub will strengthen delivery for our clients across Arizona and Southwest US.
This will be the third Technology and Innovation Hub opened by the company in the US and the fifth announced.
It already has such hubs in Indianapolis, Indiana and Raleigh, North Carolina. It has announced hubs at Hartford, Connecticut and at Providence, Rhode Island.
The Indian company has also trained or helped 4.7 million students, 13,000 teachers and 21,000 schools across America.
It offers grants for professional development for teachers, hands on workshops for students and new technology and teaching aids for classrooms.
