Steel and energy company Jindal Steel and Power Ltd reported its highest ever domestic quarterly steel production and sales in the fourth quarter of financial year 2018-19.

The company registered crude steel production of 1.51 million tonnes during the January-March quarter of 2019, an increase of 23% from the 1.26 million tonnes produced in the same quarter last year.

Jindal also recorded crude steel sales of 1.45 million tonnes in the current quarter, a growth of 21% from the 1.18 million tonnes produced in the January-March quarter of 2018.

The company attributed the increase to the recently commissioned 3.25 million tons per year furnace at its 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant at Angul, Odisha.

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) is part of the USD 22 billion OP Jindal group. JSPL has its presence in core sectors like steel, power, mining and infrastructure.
