Huawei is all set to unveil a new, entry-level LTE model on Flipkart next week, according to sources, giving an alternative to the elusive Lenovo A6000.
The model will help quench demand for cheap LTE phones in India. The Lenovo model, sold by Flipkart, has been difficult to obtain in the light of very high demand. That said, the Lenovo A6000 continues to be, without doubt, the most value for money LTE phone in India (as you will see below).
Earlier, there had been rumors that the phone would be the Honor 4X, priced at around Rs 8,000. However, the new Huawei model will be priced in the same range as Lenovo A6000, and this implies that it would be a slightly lower speced phone than the Honor 4X.
Rumored specifications include a Snapdragon 410 chipset with 1.2 GHz quadcore processor and 1 GB RAM.
Though we are not entirely sure of this, the Huawei LTE phone is likely to come with a quarter HD display, which is likely to be the only big difference between the phone and the Lenovo A6000. The Lenovo handset has a 720p HD display, implying that there are 1 million pixels (dots) on its display, while a qHD display will have only half a million dots.
The phone will be the latest in a series of phones being launched by Chinese vendors in the Rs 7,000-8,000 range with built-in LTE support.
All these phones come with the Snapdragon 410 chipset, which incorporates the ARM Cortex-A53 core design. The A53 is the successor to the wildly successful Cortex A7 design, and is supposed to be about 50% more powerful than the previous generation.
Other handsets powered by the Snapdragon 410 chipset include the Nokia Lumia 638 (price Rs 8,000), HTC Desire 510, Lenovo Sisley , Samsung Galaxy Grand Max (Rs 16,000), and Huawei Honor 4X.
