The operator said it has launched National Mobile Number Portability (NMNP) in accordance with the Government’s mandate to roll-out pan-India Mobile Number Portability services from July 3, 2015.
Competitor Reliance Communications also announced its readiness to implement nationwide MNP.
“RCOM is ready to roll out Mobile Number Portability nationally from July 3, 2015 onwards, and this will allow our customers to retain their mobile number in any part of the country and continue to enjoy our best-in-class network and services,” it said.
“Reliance Communications will also be offering attractive and aggressive plans for both its pre-paid and post-paid customers, as well as customers porting in from other networks, to ensure that this is a seamless and easy transition,” it said.
“MTS India welcomes the Government’s decision to roll out Mobile Number Portability (MNP) on a PAN India basis on 3rd July 2015,” the CDMA operator said.
“The Company is fully geared up to comply with the deadline. The move will enable MTS India to quickly and efficiently process all number portability requests. The implementation of MNP is bound to set new benchmarks in customer service standards within the Indian telecom sector.”
The National Mobile Number Portability service facilitates customers to carry their existing mobile number from one telecom circle to another across India and choose the operator of their choice. NMNP is applicable to all pre-paid and post-paid customers.
