Left Parties lead in Kerala Panchayat elections

ldf

In a boost for the Left front, early trends have given a lead to the Left Democratic Front in Kerala’s local body elections.

Early indications say that LDF has 27 leads, while Congress-led UDF led in 9 seats.

LDF is leading in 11 municipalities and the UDF in 6.

The fight is crucial for the LDF as it has come under attack from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

The Congress Party was hoping that the rise of the BJP would splinter Left Parties’ vote base and help it remain in power.

There are six corporations, 86 municipalities and 941 panchayats (villages) going into the election.
