letv-le-1s-india-otaLeEco will roll out over-the-air software updates for its biggest selling phone in India, the LeTV Le 1s, this week.

The update will resolve issues that have been highlighted in user reviews. The OTA upgrade is expected to prolong battery life, and improve sound as well.

There have some complaints that the battery life is sub-optimal and user reviews have also indicated heating issues, though part of that would be because of the metal body.

One problem that will definitely be resolved is the pretty atrocious quality of photographs. The company has already announced that the camera quality will be improved with the update.

UPDATE: You can download the update and flash it manually from LETV website. However, please remember that it has to be done with a lot of care. For instructions, you can visit the website here.

As we have reported earlier, below-par camera is the main drawback of this otherwise excellent smartphone.

Over-the-air software upgrades replace the whole or substantial bits of the Android operating system. During the process, software bugs — which cause issues like overheating, high RAM consumption and lagging — are resolved.

With the phone models being launched every 4-6 months, companies cannot afford to test a single model for three or four months as they used to.

Another phone that is being upgraded over the air is Yu Yutopia, whose list of problems are much longer than that of the LeEco model. However, Yutopia is yet to address many of the issues flagged by users in their reviews.

LeTV also announced that it would make the full-HD phone available on demand starting from Feb 25, which it is celebrating as the LeEco Day.

It will also offer a discount of up to Rs 6,000 on the LeTV Le 1s smartphone under an exchange scheme and a similar offer of up to Rs 20,000 in exchange value for the Le Max phone.

It will also offer gifts and cash backs worth Rs 8 cr.
