However, overall sales of two-wheelers were up 1% due to a 7% jump in export volumes.
The company sold 1.72 lakh two-wheelers in August in India, down from 1.75 lakh in the same month a year ago. This was comparatively better than the company’s performances in recent months. For the year so far, total two-wheeler sales are down 15%.
Exports of two-wheelers were at 1.12 lakh compared to 1.05 lakh in the same month last year.
The company’s performance in the three-wheeler segment was better, with a total growth of 13%.
Domestic sales of its auto rickshaws jumped 13% on year to 28,995 vehicles in the month compared to 25,595 in the year-ago period. For the year so far, total sales of three-wheelers in India is down 17%.
Exports increased 12% to 22,175.
Including both two- and three-wheelers, Bajaj Auto had flat sales of 2 lakh units for the month in India and a 7% growth in exports at 1.34 lakh.
