Spice Jet cancels all flights to Kabul

Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet has suspended its flights to Kabul in light of the shooting down of the Malaysian Airtlines in Ukraine.

“In view of the security situation in Kabul and its airport, SpiceJet has decided to temporarily suspend our Kabul flights until the situation improves. The airport in Kabul came under rocket attack on July 3 when a SpiceJet flight was pushing back. The airport again came under attack yesterday,” SpiceJet said.

“In view of the above, we have decided to take this step as the safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance to us.”

Spicejet said it will offer passengers a full refund and will also try to request other airlines that operate to Kabul to accommodate them if they still desire to travel.

Indian low-cost carriers typically fly short distance international routes such as those to other South Asian countries.

In a separate statement, Jet Aiways assured its customers that none of the Jet Airways flights to and from Europe fly through the Ukrainian airspace ever since the conflict began and that Jet continued to avoid the Ukrainian airspace in the prime interest of the safety.
