BMW Motorrad launched the BMW F 850 GS Adventure sports bike today at a price of Rs 15.4 lakh prior to road tax.\n\n\n\nThe price includes GST, import duties and other similar levies, but excludes road tax, RTO fees and other local levies. \n\n\n\nBMW F 850 GS Adventure is a relatively lightweight motorcycle that can serve as both a city as well as an adventure or off-road travel companion.\n\n\n\nIt will be imported completely built from abroad, which explains the higher price, and can be booked at BMW Motorrad dealerships from today onwards, the company said. \n\n\n\n\u201cFor more than ten years, the GS models in the BMW Motorrad F series have embodied the premium range in the middle class travel and adventure enduro segment," said Dr. Hans-Christian Baertels, head of BMW Group in India.\n\n\n\n"With the launch of the all-new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, we are now expanding the premium BMW Motorrad range in this segment," he said, adding that the bike will enable riders to 'explore the remote corners of the world by motorcycle'.\n\n\n\nBMW F 850 Adventure GS is available in India only with the Style Rallye package that includes Lupine Blue metallic including tapes in Racing red uni \/ Light white uni \/ Blackstorm metallic under paintwork), Windshield sport, Golden anodised rim rings and Golden anodised upper front fork tube.\n\n\n\n"The design of the all-new BMW F 850 GS Adventure is more dynamic and robust, which clearly signals adventure and travelling the world suitability," said the German automaker, which has a tie-up with TVS Motor Co in India. \n\n\n\n"The distinctive GS flyline is visible from all perspectives. Iconic design features such as the asymmetric headlamp and the GS typical flyline clearly identify it as a member of the BMW Motorrad GS family. Starting from the front \u201cbeak\u201d of the GS, the flyline extends over the fuel tank and seat to the rear."\n\n\n\nBMW said the bike comes with a low double seat to ensure "better access to the ground and facilitates handling while standing".\n\n\n\n"With wide enduro footrests, adjustable shift and foot brake levers and center stand, you can tackle any tour in even more relaxed fashion and focus fully on the pure riding pleasure.\n\n\n\n"High-positioned air intake, ground clearance, functionally designed surfaces and a precise panel alignment underline the robust off-road attributes. The visual appeal is emphasised by equipment features such as engine protection bars and stainless steel luggage rack," it said.\n\n\n\nThe BMW F 850 GS Adventure is powered by a two-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 853 cc. \n\n\n\nIt generates 70 kW (95 hp) at 8,250 rpm. \n\n\n\n"An extremely powerful and emotional sound is produced by a crankshaft journal offset of 90 degrees and firing interval of 270\/450 degrees," the manufacturer claimed.\n\n\n\nThe BMW F 850 GS Adventure comes with the two riding modes \u201cRain\u201d and Road\u201d as standard. With the riding modes \u201cRain\u201d and \u201cRoad\u201d, the riding characteristics can be adapted to the majority of road conditions. \n\n\n\nAlso included in the standard features is "automatic stability control" to increase rider safety, it said. \n\n\n\nRiders can choose optional riding modes \u2013 \u2018Dynamic\u2019 and \u2018Enduro\u2019 along with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) dynamic traction control and the banking capable ABS Pro. \n\n\n\n"Dynamic ESA opens up new dimensions of rider safety, performance and comfort. The new self-boosting anti-hopping clutch reduces engine drag torque and adds significant riding safety- especially in braking manoeuvres associated with downshifting," BMW said.\n\n\n\nThe bike also features a completely new instrument cluster design consisting of an analogue tachometer and a multifunctional display, alongside a number of control lamps. \n\n\n\nFast and clear information is available with the optional equipment known as Connectivity, with a 6.5 inch full-colour TFT display. \n\n\n\n"Integrating operation via the BMW Motorrad multi-controller, it gives the rider quick access to vehicle and connectivity functions. Phone and media functions can be used without having to install an app." \n\n\n\nThe rider can easily make telephone calls and enjoy listening to music with Bluetooth connection. There's also a built in navigation system that uses a TFT display.
